Training and Education

A successful economy for Greenstone relies on an economic foundation built on strong human resource strategies, on-going research and innovations, a skilled workforce and a diverse mix of business and industry support groups.

Photo of TradespeopleThe Municipality of Greenstone recognizes the need for well-defined, industry-driven human resources and sector strategies, based on current and comprehensive information.

In early 2011, the Municipal Economic Development Officer initiated the Greenstone Labour Market Working Group which today is 34 members strong. The group acts as a conduit that brings people together, partnering with industry, agencies and government.

The objective of the Greenstone Labour Market Working Group (GLMWG):

  • To understand the current labour market requirements; and
  • To help sector organizations meet their critical skills requirements through:
    • joint decision making with community partners on human resource development; and
    • the strategic planning of the delivery of training and employment services.
