Business Attraction Committee

  • Facilitate the creation of a current Economic Community Development Strategy, as per the Growth Plan for Northern Ontario 2011
  • Initiate a Buy Local Strategy, to be sustained by local business institutes (Chambers, etc.)
  • Facilitate partnerships with financial institutes, Greenstone Economic Development Corporation, and the local Chambers of Commerce

The Workforce Attraction and Business Attraction Committees are working collaboratively on some initiatives:

  • The Grow Greenstone Expo is a collaborative effort between the Municipality of Greenstone and the Greenstone Labour Market Working Group, representing 32 leading industry firms, learning institutes, aboriginal organizations and related government agencies, to attract and recruit talent and investment to Greenstone. To help meet industry’s labour force requirements, the Grow Greenstone Expo will feature three elements:
    • a Business Exchange modeled on an economic gardening approach to grow existing entrepreneurs and create a middle economy;
    • a Procurement and Investment Forum to identify gaps and attract new business; and
    • a Workforce Attraction Summit for jobseekers to explore mining-related career options.
  • The committees also feel a "single” central location for current businesses and available commercial properties will allow business attraction to become more streamlined. Interested entrepreneurs can quickly and easily disseminate information such as:

      • Zoning
      • Other business locations
      • Possible business gaps
      • Best location for new business (relative to current business)
      • Current Infrastructure (properly serviced businesses
